Projecting sign

Projecting signs extend perpendicular from a building façade to increase visibility along the street. Commonly fabricated from metal, aluminum, or high-density urethane, these signs are engineered for durability and structural stability. Ideal for pedestrian-oriented corridors like State Street, a projecting sign allows your business to be seen from both directions of travel while complementing the building’s architecture.

Estimated installation cost: $500-$1000

Not including design / permitting. Pricing varies on size, design and material selection.

Permit Services

With over 45 years experience in the sign industry in Santa Barbara, we are uniquely positioned to guide you through the process. We do our best to make this as simple and pain free as possible. We are committed to communicating with you every step of the way!

Application

Sign application submittal includes: site plan, elevations, photographs, sign and installation details as per the Sign Ordinance of Santa Barbara. Based on your logo, the building and guidelines from the Sign Ordinance, we will create a design that best suits your aesthetics and budget. Once the application is approved, we will obtain the Building Permit and coordinate a sign inspection. In Santa Barbara, only licensed sign contractors (like Acaloa Artisans) are allowed to obtain a Building Permit for a sign.

Conforming Review

This is an expedited review process which does not require a presentation to the Sign Committee. Our goal is always to obtain a Conforming Review but we will communicate if we anticipate otherwise.

Revisions

The City Planner or Sign Committee may request revisions to clarify details or alter the design, including size, color and layout etc.

Sign Committee Presentation

A Non-Conforming Review is forwarded to the Sign Committee. We will attend a bi-weekly meeting and make a presentation on behalf of your project.

Permit Fees

We will assess City Fees at the beginning of the project and provide you an estimate. These fees will be paid directly to the City of Santa Barbara by the Client.
